“Our dear friend in Gaza's al-Nuseirat camp, Maram Tah, is in dire straits and needs our help. We connected in late 2023 because, as a elementary school teacher, Maram was motivated to start a school for displaced children after her family home was bombed, leaving herself and three younger siblings without a stable place to live. The school where she taught was in rubble, along with the homes and neighborhoods of her former students. After helping numerous family members with moral support and money, Maram is now asking for help for her medical expenses and  nutritious food and care for Isa, an orphaned toddler who she and her husband Hamou have taken in.

When the winter 2025 ceasefire was being negotiated, Maram started a school in a partially standing building, enlisting the help of another teacher, her older brother, husband, and other relatives and friends.

A group of us in the US helped raise money to buy the children shoes, healthy lunches, and school supplies while Maram and her friends built walls, borrowed tables and chairs and began teaching Arabic, English, arithmetic and Palestinian culture to the students. They also played games and made art with the 5 to 12  year old children, providing trauma-informed care with the help of a child psychology student and their own experiences of years of teaching in an Occupied Territory. 

Now Maram herself needs help and care. While helping her mother-in-law, who is in one of the few remaining hospitals for her chronic Lupus symptoms, Maram fainted. It turns out that she has large kidney stones as a result of almost two years of drinking contaminated water.

After helping to finance operations for Maram's father's heart problems, her husband's injuries after a bombing, her mother's back problems, her sister's burns after an Israeli attack, her older brother's wounds, her niece's broken leg and severe injuries sustained by two of her cousins who were hit by shrapnel, my friends and I are tapped out. We all hope and pray that YOU will make a contribution towards the cost of Maram's surgery and treatment and towards her aunt and nephew's resettlement after their fleeing from North Gaza as well as care for Isa and Mohammed, two small, innocent boys. They both have medical problems, Isa has bad food allergies and Mohammed needs leg and foot surgery and physical therapy. 

Foreign medical teams used to come into Gaza to help with patients and to bring in much needed medicine and supplies. But they aren't being let in now so supplies are running very low and any kind of medical care is even more expensive. Please contribute as you are able and pass this request on to other people.

Maram is a very caring person - in additon to volunteer teaching she has raised money for a widowed neighbor and her children and also for a single mother with young ones. Maram and her husband recently brought Isa into their home when this tiny boy's home was bombed, killing the rest of his family. Isa (Arabic for Jesus) has food allergies so his care is more expensive. Please contribute to Maram, her Aunt Ramona, and the children in their time of need!”

Help a family of five survive in Gaza.

Hamooda and Emy are living in Gaza with their three children - one baby, one toddler, and an 10

-year-old. Their home in Khan Younis was destroyed by bombing. Since then, they have been homeless and experiencing constant displacement as well as extreme food and water scarcity.

We created this campaign to help them have a stable income for basic survival needs.

Maram asks us to help her Aunt Ramona and nephew Mohammed who just evacuated from North Gaza, set up a home in the South.  Maram's Aunt Ramona and her little boy Mohammed, vacuated to the South thanks to all the folks who donated so we could get them out. Mohamed has a disability and needs an  operation on his leg soon. 

Mohammed, Issa, and all their little cousins need protein, fresh fruits and vegetables, which are available in the market only at exorbitant prices. Of course, adults need nutrition too. Many of the family members need healthcare. Aunt Ramona and Mohammed had to evacuate without furniture, bedding, food or cookware. Maram's friends who lent money for her operation need the money for their own needs. The adults hardly have any opportunities to work for money and costs are skyrocketing.
